JEPARA — Around 500 villagers representing 42 neighborhood units (RT) participated in a cultural parade held in Kecapi Village on Sunday (May 10, 2026). The event was held to preserve local traditions while expressing gratitude for the community’s harvest and blessings.
Unlike previous years, this year’s parade featured a colorful vehicle procession. The parade was led by the Head of Kecapi Village, Sukambali, who rode in a horse-drawn carriage, followed by participants traveling in jeep-style vehicles and various other cars.
The procession started from RT 18 and ended at RT 5 while circling around the village. The route covered an estimated distance of around 10 kilometers and took approximately 1.5 hours to complete.
According to Sukambali, the vehicle procession concept was introduced based on community aspirations so that residents throughout the village could enjoy the festive atmosphere more evenly.
During the parade, participants showcased traditional Javanese costumes along with various cultural and artistic performances. One of the main attractions of the event was the “gunungan,” a cone-shaped arrangement of agricultural products symbolizing gratitude to Almighty God for abundant harvests and prosperity.
“We are grateful to Allah SWT because this event was successfully held,” said Sukambali. He also expressed hope that the people of Kecapi Village would continue to receive blessings, harmony, and prosperity in the coming year.
The event was attended by several invited guests, including Chairman of the Jepara Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) Agus Sutisna, local government officials, police officers, military representatives, and community leaders.
The celebration concluded with a communal prayer at the village hall. The atmosphere became even more lively as residents, especially children, enthusiastically joined the traditional “ngalap berkah” tradition by collecting offerings from the gunungan.
